The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

Future rounds of Watershed Council grants will likely use similar guidelines and processes. The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) received 55 proposals requesting over $2 million in response to the FY 2026 RFP. The proposals are now being reviewed, and funding decisions will be announced early this summer.
EGLE requested proposals from watershed-based organizations to support general organizational administration needs as well as conservation and educational activities. Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) was available through this Request for Proposals (RFP). Individual grants are capped at $40,000 each with a 12-month timeframe.
No local match is required. A webinar was hosted by EGLE staff to present details of this grant program, the application process, and to answer questions from the audience. You can access a recording of the webinar at Applying for EGLE's FY26 Watershed Council Support Grants - Zoom.
