Purchasers | WAZIP by Washington State Department of Transportation Skip to content Skip to content Apply for zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) funding through WAZIP WAZIP offers discounts through WAZIP-approved dealers who walk you through the application process. When you buy or lease an eligible vehicle or piece of equipment, your discount is applied directly at point of sale.
Getting started with WAZIP is simple: Fill out our interest form so you can stay informed about all the latest WAZIP news and technical assistance opportunities. 2. Verify funding availability Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the order requests are received, so check availability before you buy.
3. Choose your vehicle or equipment Browse the WAZIP catalog to find eligible zero-emission vehicles and equipment that fit your business needs. Browse the vehicle catalog 4.
Contact a WAZIP-approved dealer Find a WAZIP-approved dealer to start your voucher application. Dealers submit the voucher application on the purchaser’s behalf and apply the WAZIP voucher discount at the point of purchase or lease. Your dealer or our technical assistance team can also connect you with additional funding options to help you save more.
5. Plan for charging or fueling Connect with technical assistance for help with infrastructure planning, including coordination with your local utility and available incentive programs. WAZIP can also help fund infrastructure purchases as part of your vehicle or equipment voucher.
Connect with technical assistance 6. Follow program requirements Follow WAZIP’s operating and reporting rules for three years. This includes keeping telematics active, completing annual surveys and maintaining at least 75% of vehicle use in Washington state.

Connect with technical assistance Keep up to date on program changes and policy updates To qualify for WAZIP funding, you must: Be a business, nonprofit, Tribal nation or government entity. Be based in Washington and have operated in Washington for at least one year. Use the vehicle or equipment solely for business or commercial purposes.
Use the vehicle at least 75% of the time in Washington state. Be in good standing with state and federal agencies. Give your dealer all the correct documents for your voucher request.
Agree to the WAZIP purchaser terms and conditions (PDF 217 KB) . Follow all WAZIP program rules. Rental and leasing fleet management companies may also be eligible if they meet these requirements and follow additional WAZIP terms and lease conditions.

Enhanced vouchers available WAZIP can be stacked with other funding incentives to help you save more on clean vehicles, off-road equipment and charging infrastructure. Enhanced vouchers are also available to help small businesses, nonprofits and other eligible groups further reduce the cost of zero-emission vehicles and equipment.
Who can qualify for enhanced voucher amounts: Small businesses with less than $10 million in annual revenue Government and public agencies Speak with technical assistance or check the WAZIP Implementation Manual (IM) (PDF 1. 7 MB) for full details. Setting up your charging infrastructure Installing charging or fueling infrastructure is necessary for electric and hydrogen-powered fleets and can take several months to complete.
WAZIP provides a small amount of infrastructure funding alongside vehicle and equipment funding, so it is important to know your fueling plan before purchasing your new vehicle or piece of equipment. WAZIP’s technical assistance team works with Washington utilities to help you plan and install the needed infrastructure on time. They can also connect you to utility programs and local resources.

WAZIP voucher amounts vary by vehicle/equipment — as listed in our catalog — and business type and are available on a rolling basis for as long as funds are available.
