Weatherization Assistance Program is sponsored by Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The Weatherization Assistance Program is a no-cost program that helps lower-income households reduce their utility bills and increase energy efficiency.

Weatherization Program - Oklahoma Department of Commerce The Weatherization Assistance Program is a no-cost program that helps lower-income households reduce their utility bills and increase energy efficiency. The program is implemented locally throughout Oklahoma by service contractors who contract and partner with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce to serve designated areas.

The program is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy. Eligible applicants are low-income Oklahoma households (who either rent or own their home) and who are at or below 200% of the poverty level. Priority is given to those 60 years and older, differently abled, families with children, those with high energy burdens and those who are high residential energy users.

Request for Applications: Weatherization Program Service Providers The Oklahoma Department of Commerce (ODOC) is requesting applications for Weatherization Program Service Providers. ODOC has been responsible for the administration of the Department of Energy Weatherization Assistance Program and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services Low Income Home Energy Assistance Weatherization Program since 1977.

The Weatherization Assistance Program’s mission is to “reduce costs for low-income families, particularly for the elderly, people with disabilities, and children, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes while ensuring their health and safety.

” ODOC currently contracts with 8 (eight) non-profit service providers to serve Oklahoma counties’ low-income eligible families with weatherization services in residential single-family units and mobile homes. All current Subgrantees and current Oklahoma service areas are illustrated on this map .

In recent years, due to workforce capacity and increasing technical requirements, multiple counties in Oklahoma have been without weatherization services.

ODOC, in collaboration with the current non-profit service providers (Subgrantees), developed a Weatherization Pathway Forward plan, to restructure the weatherization service areas and allocation formula in a more efficient way to better serve the service providers and Oklahoma families.

ODOC is issuing this Request for Application (RFA) to procure qualified weatherization assistance program service providers to administer ODOC’s high quality weatherization services to low-income families according to the new weatherization regional service areas map for at least the next five years (January 1, 2023 – March 30, 2028). 2023 State Weatherization Plan Public Comment Period and Public Hearing Weatherization Assistance Program Brochure Green Workforce Connect supports career growth in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Weatherization Assistance Program. The collaborative effort links job seekers in Oklahoma with home weatherization career.

This online platform connects job seekers, students, and contractors with weatherization employers and training providers in their area. The Green Workforce Connect platform includes detailed information on various real weatherization roles, real career stories, a career-fit quiz, blog posts, template job descriptions for organizations to use, and a way for job seekers to connect directly to local organizations that are hiring.

Visit Oklahoma's Green Workforce Connect Hub Annually, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce submits a State Plan to the US Department of Energy regarding the implementation of the Oklahoma Low-Income Weatherization Assistance Program. January 9 through January 24, 2023, the 2023 State Plan (Program Year April 1, 2023 – March 31, 2024), will be made available on the Oklahoma Department of Commerce website for public review and comment.
