The mission of the Wegener Foundation is to carry on the philanthropic legacy of Herman and Mary Wegener. Herman and Mary Wegener founded the Wegener Foundation in 1958. This is a private foundation dedicated to supporting sustainable charitable organizations that improve the quality of living and education for people and communities through the Oklahoma City metro and surrounding areas.
The Directors look to the needs of communities, large and small, and for mission statements that enhance living conditions for people with all levels of abilities. The Wegener Foundation is dedicated to serving Central Oklahoma with a strong focus on supporting youth and family services along with education and health and wellness. The mission of the Wegener Foundation is to carry on the philanthropic legacy of Herman and Mary Wegener.
In an effort to promote good governance and fundraising practices, the Wegener Foundation may limit grants to four (4) successive years. At that time, the Board may decide to cease funding. Wegener Foundation grantees are encouraged to maintain a large funding base and not become reliant on one funder.
