This memorial fund is a way to honor Federal Probation and Pretrial Officers who have passed away and serves to offer assistance to their families who suffer a loss of their loved one. The FPPOA Benevolence Fund was organized with the sole purpose of helping the families of sworn officers of U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services by providing financial relief in the event of an officer’s death.
Due to the unforeseen expenses resulting from the untimely loss of a law enforcement loved one, the FPPOA Benevolence Fund was designed to provide much needed financial assistance to support the family members during the shocking first days following the death of an officer.

In March of 2020, Canaan was recognized on an international scale for interceding in an attempted kidnapping at a gas station in Las Cruces, NM. Because of his actions, the would-be kidnapper was apprehended and a pregnant mom and her three young children were saved. Canaan used the skills he gained through wrestling at Mayfield High School, where he was heavy-weight District Champion and a two time State qualifier.
Canaan was more than a one-time hero. He exemplified love and kindness every day of his life with everyone he ever met. Canaan was known for helping out friends, family and strangers any time they needed help.
He was a friend to all, and a protector for many. On March 9, 2022, Canaan lost his life in a motorcycle/car accident. Canaan will always be loved, never forgotten and forever missed.

Funds will be granted to assist students in the public school system and grant making to organizations supporting unhoused residents in Doña Ana County. ## CaraLyn Banks Legacy Fund CaraLyn Banks, a long time supporter, emeritus board member, friend, colleague and most importantly mother and grandmother passed April 28th, 2024.
In her honor, and because of her unwavering commitment to the Las Cruces community and the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico a legacy fund has been set up to honor her long time dedication. CaraLyn could be found at her law offices, at KempSmith, even if she was not feeling well. She dedicated her life to her career, her family and this community.
Even when she was struggling she attended Community Foundation events, committee meetings and emeritus lunches where she stayed connected with so many. CaraLyn will be deeply missed by our team but most importantly her family - Jarod, Jennifer and their children, Megan and Grant. ## Carla J.
Urban Scholarship for the Trades The purpose of the scholarship is to grant 1 student only from Hot Springs HS in Truth or Consequences, NM who will be entering into a trade field of study at a vocational trades institution or a community college for a trade certificate. ## Celebrating Rose Garcia!
On the 50th year anniversary of Tierra Del Sol Housing Corporation (TDS), we celebrate the dedicated years of hard work from the Executive Director, Rose Garcia. Rose has served with TDS for most of the last 50 years. In that time, Tierra del Sol has expanded its mission to help working families and older residents.
Along with helping residents build their own homes, they also own 22 apartment complexes and have a home-repair program, so people can stay in their homes longer as they age. To celebrate and honor her continued dedication to serving individuals and families through the mission of Tierra De Sol, staff, board, and community are coming together to create the Celebrating Rose Garcia Endowed Fund.

The mission of HandinHand is to build up the leadership skills of each teen involved and to aid the children of Doña Ana County by fundraising, volunteering, and advocating for programs and services to address neurodiversity, health issues, poverty, homelessness, early literacy, and more.
We seek to make a difference in the lives of the children we meet. ## Healthy Communities Impact Fund This fund promotes wellness in Southern New Mexico and helps increase access to basic needs, high-quality healthcare, end-of-life services, and support programs for vulnerable members of our community. This fund supports programs and organizations that address housing insecurity and homelessness in our community.
## Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access Impact Fund This fund support inclusion, diversity, equity and access to programming in Southern New Mexico while supporting nonprofit partners to strive and have equitable conversations within their organizations, board of directors and throughout the community.
## Jose Covarrubias Scholarship The scholarship will be awarded annually to 1 or more eligible applicants provided the total amount of scholarships awarded does not exceed the Fund’s distributable amount. As assets grow, the Foundation may elect to increase the grant amount or award additional scholarships.
To be eligible, applicants must meet these criteria: •Must be a graduating senior from Hot Springs High School •Must be a first generation student •Must be planning ## Juan Diego Guadiana Legacy Foundation Designated Non Endowed Fund Juan Diego Guadiana, 33, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was born and raised in Las Cruces and was a Science Teacher for Las Cruces High School.
While his illness ultimately kept him from his true dream of serving in the Military, he continued to serve others through his passion for fitness and wellness. Besides being a Physical Trainer, Juan also served as a High School Football Coach and conditioning Coach for NMSU. He lived his life to the fullest while remaining faithful to a very healthy and active lifestyle.
During his life, Juan went on to accomplish everything he put his mind to. With an inborn passion and talent for music, he dedicated several years as a musician for Mariachi Rayos Del Sol. Growing through his years, he never lost sight of what it meant to live in the present moment.
As he would often say "live for today because tomorrow is never promised". And that he did. Whether he was traveling with friends and family or enjoying the best foods he could get his hands on, Juan loved big no matter the occasion.
His courageous soul and eternal love for life will never be forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. The Juan Guadiana Legacy Foundation Fund will support community initiatives and Impact Funds with guidance from friends and family of Juan Diego Guadiana.
These include preferences for healthy communities’ projects that support health and wellness, increasing physical activity within community or schools; projects and initiatives that address greatest needs and elevate the lives individuals or families who may not qualify to receive other community supports and are actively seeking support services or who need a boost to reach professional or personal development goal (i.e. supplies for work, equipment for training, etc.); addressing emergency/ greatest needs.
Funds may also support the CFSNM Student Success Impact Fund and general scholarship support.
This includes preference for students from Las Cruces High School or Dona Ana County; students who are undergoing cancer treatment or have had to pause school previously to undergo cancer treatment; students who are interested in or who are pursuing kinesiology, physical therapy, or occupational therapy; students that have been a part of Junior ROTC or ROTC. ; students who share how they will positively impact communities.
