Wellness grants | Health First At Health First, we’re guided by one mission: to improve the health and wellness of the communities we serve. Through our Wellness Grants program, we partner with local nonprofit organizations across Brevard County to expand access to care, strengthen community resources, and support those who need it most.
These grants reflect our priorities—improving access to healthcare, expanding opportunities for physical activity and nutrition, and supporting our neighbors in times of need. See our impact in action. What are Wellness Grants?
Wellness Grants are designed to support nonprofit organizations addressing priority health needs identified through our Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). We prioritize funding for programs that address the most pressing needs in our community, including: Nutrition and physical activity. Nonprofit organizations we support.
We are proud to partner with organizations across Brevard County that are improving lives every day. The following organizations are receiving support through our Wellness Grants: Children's Home Society of Florida Down Syndrome Association of Brevard Eckerd Youth Alternatives Family Promise of Brevard Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation Friends of Children of Brevard Grandparents Raising Grandchildren St.
Vincent de Paul Church of Our Saviour Conference Sharing Center of Central Brevard Space Coast Habitat for Humanity The Children's Hunger Project To Write Love on Her Arms Wholeness to Freedom Ministries Women's Center of Brevard How to apply for a Wellness Grant. Wellness Grants support programs that improve health outcomes for Brevard County residents, guided by Health First’s Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
Applications must be submitted within the designated application window. Late, incomplete, or ineligible applications will not be considered. All proposals are reviewed through a standardized evaluation process to ensure consistency and fairness.
The highest-scoring applications will be invited to present to the Community Health Improvement Committee (CHIC), which makes final funding decisions. Organizations selected for funding are required to submit quarterly reports demonstrating progress toward program goals and use of funds. For full details, please review the Wellness Grant Packet.
Who is eligible for Wellness Grants? Be a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (or equivalent). Serve residents of Brevard County.
Propose a program aligned with at least one priority or area of interest: Nutrition, physical activity, and weight management. Access to healthcare services. Submit a complete application by the deadline.
Programs focused on student populations are supported through Health First’s partnership with Brevard Public Schools. Private schools and private educational institutions are not eligible. The Wellness Grants program is offered annually, with applications typically opening in June.
Dates may vary slightly from year to year and will be posted on this page. The current application period has closed, and applications are currently under review. Interested organizations are encouraged to review program guidelines and eligibility requirements and check back for future application opportunities.

Through a Wellness Grant supporting Brevard Public Schools, students are gaining the resilience, confidence, and skills to overcome life’s challenges. Making a difference in our community's wellbeing. By working together with 20 local organizations and providing over $439,000 in Wellness Grants, we're ensuring a brighter future for Brevard.
Spreading holiday cheer in the season of giving. Health First associates made the season brighter for over 100 children in the community through the 12th annual Magic of Christmas Toy Drive. Showers and a helping hand.
