Wetland Conservation Program is a grant from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources that funds wetland restoration, enhancement, and acquisition in the Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay watersheds. Funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, the program identifies and supports approximately 5 to 10 projects to acquire, engineer, restore, create, or enhance wetlands by October 31, 2026.
Projects must reduce phosphorous, nitrogen, or sediment entering Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay, and support Great Lakes tourism and economic sectors impacted by COVID-19. A single organization is sought to serve as fiduciary and technical lead, working with partners to identify and fund eligible wetland projects. This program is no longer accepting applications.
Applicants were required to submit a budget narrative, budget spreadsheet, and grant agreement review.

The selected organization will work with potential partners to identify and fund approximately 5-10 projects to acquire, engineer, restore, create and/or enhance wetlands in the Lake Erie and Saginaw Bay watersheds.
