North and Central America In the North American Corridor (the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Central America), our philanthropy is focused on strengthening worker dignity to increase market access, preserving nature through investments in conservation, restoration and more sustainable management.

For example, a Walmart Foundation grant supports the Equitable Food Initiative’s (EFI) Responsibly Grown, Farm Worker Assured certification, helping to support smaller farmers and advance responsible labor practices. Walmart.

org invests in programs that help create economic opportunity, advance sustainability and equity and strengthen local communities in the U.S. Pillars: Opportunity, Sustainability , Community, Center for Racial Equity Walmart. org supports projects working to prevent food waste, improve food recovery solutions and advance equity for Black and Indigenous Canadians through food security and economic opportunity.

In addition, we invest in programs that align with Walmart’s corporate initiatives in Mexico to enhance the social and environmental sustainability of product supply chains. Pillars: Sustainability , Community We invest in place-based partnerships in South America – with ongoing work in Brazil – that combine conservation, restoration and sustainable management to increase market access for people in supply chains and preserve forests.

For example, a Walmart Foundation grant supports Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental de Amazonia (IPAM), a non-profit that has been working in the Brazilian Amazon since 1995 to advance an environmentally sound, economically prosperous, and socially just Amazon. With this support, IPAM is helping to minimize deforestation by strengthening and providing resources for smallholder farmers in Brazil.

In Chile, our local giving initiative empowers Walmart stores, clubs and distribution centers to give back in their communities. Our philanthropy in Southeast Asia supports conservation, restoration and more sustainable management of nature, while advancing dignity for people in supply chains. This work includes targeted grants toward combating deforestation and supporting pathways for responsible seafood sourcing.

For example, a 2019 Walmart Foundation grant to Conservation International supported a workshop for the Coalition for Sustainable Livelihoods in Indonesia with more than 130 stakeholders from the palm, cocoa, rubber and coffee supply chains.

This workshop brought together smallholders, civil society, private sector and government representatives to create a roadmap for sustainable development in the North Sumatra and Aceh regions in Indonesia. In India, Walmart. org invests in philanthropic programs that improve market access for farmers and align with Walmart’s corporate initiatives to enhance the social and environmental sustainability of product supply chains.
