We support nonprofit organizations in Southwest Idaho focused on education, youth development, health, arts and culture, social welfare, and recreation. This mission continues Mrs. Whittenberger’s lifelong commitment to the welfare of children, as outlined in her Last Will and Testament.
Learn more about our history The Foundation’s areas of interest support nonprofit programs for children and young people in Idaho, with a focus on education, arts and culture, health and wellness, social welfare, youth recreation, and environmental initiatives. The Foundation prefers to support short-term, high-impact projects.
It will consider long-term nonprofit initiatives that show potential for matching grants or independent funding beyond Whittenberger Foundation support. In evaluating grant requests from Idaho nonprofits, the Foundation considers available financial resources and seeks opportunities where Whittenberger funds can make a critical, measurable difference in project success.

com The Foundation does not support the following: No grants are awarded to individuals for political lobbying, voter registration, or political campaign purposes. No single recipient may receive more than 20% of the distributable annual income. Grants within the range of $5,000 to $10,000 are most common.
Apart from a limited number of continuing commitments, grants for amounts in excess of $20,000 are rarely awarded. The Board does not usually make more than one grant to the same organization within a twelve-month period.
