Whole Home Energy and Repairs The Whole Home Energy and Repairs Division can help you make critical repairs and enhancements to your home that can lower your family’s monthly utility bills and help you maintain a safe, comfortable and accessible home. We offer a range of programs designed to help Maryland residents make crucial home upgrades.
These can include upgrading to energy-efficient appliances, repairing or replacing heating and cooling systems, replacing insulation, adding accessibility features for seniors or those with special needs, removing lead paint, upgrading plumbing, and addressing structural and maintenance issues.
With options such as low-interest rate loans or no-cost grants for eligible participants, creating a healthier, safer home that saves money is easier than ever. These programs not only help reduce heating and cooling costs but also improve the overall livability and safety of homes, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Energy and Home Repairs Programs Provide income-eligible homeowners and single-family renters with energy-saving upgrades at no cost. BeSMART Energy Loan Program Offer low interest rate loans for homeowners to make energy efficiency upgrades. Net Zero homes are energy efficient homes that produce as much or more energy than they will use.
Our Department supports the construction of Net Zero homes and rehabilitation of Net Zero Ready homes throughout Maryland. Energy Programs for Multifamily Developments Provide grants or loans to multifamily properties that are affordable or house low income households.
The Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program aims to provide affordable funding to address critical health and safety issues and bring properties into an agreement with applicable building codes and standards by offering a suite of special loans programs. Repair Programs for Multifamily Developments Provide financing for the development and preservation of affordable rental housing in priority funding areas.
Energy Efficiency Workforce Learn how to become part of the energy efficiency workforce or a service provider for DHCD’s energy programs. Community Investment Tax Credit Program (CITC) is a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development that provides state tax credit allocations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits, enabling them to attract private donations from individuals and businesses.
