CHE: William A Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship William A Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship State Financial Aid Resources State Financial Aid - By Program William A Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship The Commission offers teaching scholarships for students who are residents of an underserved county. Underserved counties include Allen County, Marion County, Lake County, St. Joseph County, and Vanderburgh County.
If selected, students must agree in writing to apply for a teaching position at a school in an underserved county and, if hired, teach in an underserved county for at least three years. Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 289-2025 modified the scholarship requirements for new recipients applying after June 30, 2025.
Recipients applying after June 30, 2025 must: currently reside in or resided in an underserved county immediately before enrolling in college be an Indiana resident and a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen be admitted or already attending an eligible Indiana institution as a full-time student pursue or intend to pursue a course of study that would enable the student, upon graduation, to teach in an underserved county in Indiana agree in writing to apply for a teaching position at a school in an underserved county in Indiana following that student's certification as a teacher and, if hired, to teach for at least three years be a full-time student, or plan to enroll as a full-time student be a first-time undergraduate student maintain the cumulative grade point average (GPA) required for admission to the institution’s school of education meet any other minimum criteria established by the Commission to renew the Scholarship, recipients must reapply for the each year and maintain the cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.

Submit a complete William A. Crawford Minority Teacher Scholarship Application through ScholarTrack by August 31, 2026. Students will need to a create a Student ScholarTrack Account to complete the application.
Once logged into ScholarTrack, click “Apply for State Aid” to access the application. In accordance with federal law, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (Commission) will make any reasonable modification or accommodation to the best of the agency’s ability.
