Community Foundation Awards Over $333,000 In Women & Girls Grants – CFECT Community Foundation Awards Over $333,000 In Women & Girls Grants NEW LONDON – The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut announces over $333,000 in 2024 Women & Girls grants, a six percent increase over 2023 awards.

The investments support economic security, education and workforce development, health and wellbeing, leadership and advocacy for women and girls across the 42 towns served by the Foundation. This year’s 44 grantees include: • BEB – Birth Support, Education & Beyond – for perinatal maternal support of low-income women in the Windham area.

• Child & Family Agency of Southeastern CT – for clinical support of women and girls from Southeastern CT who are survivors of domestic violence. • Move to Heal – for a fitness-based recovery program for women in Putnam. • Step Up New London – helping women-led households in New London secure stable housing.

• The Campaign School at Yale – to inspire and equip women of color in our region to raise their voices as civic leaders. “We are thrilled to announce 44 grant awards to reduce inequity in the lives of women and girls in Eastern Connecticut, help them overcome obstacles, and enhance their well-being,” states Program Director Jennifer O’Brien. “Thanks to our many donors, we have invested more than $3.

6 million in women and girls’ grants over the years. ” Funded programs range from housing security to entrepreneurial skills, to sports and recreation, and will benefit women and girls across the region. The Community Foundation established its first Women & Girls Fund in 1999 to support nonprofits that empower women and girls to pursue positive, productive lives for themselves and their families.

Since then, other Women & Girls funds were established in Windham, Norwich and the Northeast Corner. Together, they have invested more than $3. 6 million in the equity and well-being of the region’s women and girls.
