Women's Fund | Austin Community Foundation Investing in a woman has a proven ripple effect. A giving network for those passionate about Central Texas women and their families. The Women’s Fund was founded in 2004 to focus on the needs of women and children in Central Texas.
At the time, there was a lack of philanthropic support targeting the unique needs of women and no comprehensive data tracking their well-being. Today, the data reveals growing wealth and health gaps that disproportionately affect women who historically have had the least access to support. We know that investing in a woman has a proven ripple effect, benefiting not just her family but her greater community.
Guided by this vision, we engage our whole community in closing the opportunity gap for women and children in Central Texas. Our work is driven by data and community voice. To that end, the Women’s Fund makes nonprofit grants to support the economic mobility of women in Central Texas.
As a community-led initiative, our collective-giving model continues to be at the heart of our identity, highlighting how every dollar raised contributes to our grantmaking and overall impact. Since its founding, the Women’s Fund has granted over $3 million to more than 100 local nonprofits.
Our impact areas were defined by community leaders to address the most pressing needs of the community through our grantmaking work, which provides unrestricted, general operating funding for local nonprofits. We invest in the following strategy areas: Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Expanding access to safe, quality, culturally competent and affordable child care that is conveniently located for families with low incomes.
Providing access to an ecosystem of support—financial, emotional, and academic—for women pursuing educational dreams. Supporting access to affordable housing for women that includes a network of support and/or opportunities for long-term wealth building. Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Increasing access to consumable, unbiased pregnancy prevention resources.
