Women United, in partnership with United Way of Greater Charlottesville, awards grants to local nonprofits serving women and children in the Greater Charlottesville community. The grants aim to empower and uplift organizations supporting women and children.

Women United Accepting Grant Applications for Local Nonprofits Supporting Women and Children Nonprofit organizations throughout the Greater Charlottesville and Albemarle region that directly support women and children should apply for a Women United grant by March 1! Women United is excited to announce that t he application for its 2026 Grants cycle is now open!

These grants aim to uplift local organizations doing outstanding work supporting women and children throughout the Greater Charlottesville and Albemarle region. Please note a Gmail account is required in order to apply. Grants will be awarded to nonprofits whose services directly benefit women and children in our communities.

Through last year’s grant cycle, Women United awarded $60,000 to ten local organizations uplifting women and children throughout the Greater Charlottesville area.

Women United will award grants ranging from $2,500 – $10,000 based on several criteria including the total grant funds that are available, the volume of applications, applicants’ demonstration of funding need, and applicants’ demonstration of ability to appropriately steward grant funds. Please see below for more details on the application and eligibility.

Eligible Organizations Should Apply By March 1 Women United encourages any organization meeting the following eligibility requirements to apply for this year’s grants cycle: You are a 501(c)(3) organization (or have a demonstrable nonprofit fiscal agent) in existence for a minimum of two years.

Your organization serves women and children in Charlottesville and/or the Virginia counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, or Orange. Please note: you may serve other populations in addition to women or children. You have not received a grant from Women United (previously Women United in Philanthropy) for the past two years (2024 or 2025).

Last year, Women United launched a revised and simplified online form for grant applicants and received positive feedback about its ease of use–we are excited to continue using the same application this year! If you have any questions about this application or the process, please email WomenUnited@UnitedWayCville. org Applications and all corresponding documents must be submitted via the application form by midnight on Sunday, March 1.

Grants will be delivered to recipients in May, with more details to come. All grant funding will be unrestricted. Women United is a collective giving circle of local women who care about making their community a better place and who believe in that women have the power to create positive change when they join together.
