Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is designed to help jobseekers access employment, education, training and support services to succeed in the labor market, and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
WIOA is a federal program administered in South Carolina through the Department of Employment and Workforce and through 12 workforce development areas throughout the state. A statewide board appointed by the Governor and comprised of business owners, state government officials, educators and private citizens guides policy for all WIOA-funded programs.
