Establishing an elementary and secondary school robotics grant program For legislation to establish an elementary and secondary school robotics grant program. Education. This bill establishes the Workforce Preparation Robotics grant program to increase robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) participation in public and charter elementary and secondary schools.
The program aims to provide students with opportunities to develop critical skills such as public speaking, leadership, problem-solving, and technical competencies in hardware and software. Schools can apply for grants by June 1st each year, with preference given to schools without existing robotics programs, particularly those in the Cape Cod and Western Massachusetts areas.
Grant amounts vary based on school level (elementary, middle, or high school), type of robotics program (such as FIRST Robotics Competition, VEX Robotics Competition, or Science Olympiad), and whether the school already has an established robotics club. Schools must commit to registering a team with one of the specified robotics organizations.
