Working Wheels’ Vehicle Purchase Program helps working families in our community purchase donated cars for $628. Who can purchase a car from Working Wheels?

Only clients of our community partners are eligible. To qualify, you must be receiving case management or actively participating in one of our partners’ programs for at least three months and be referred by your case manager. All applicants are required to have a valid North Carolina driver’s license, proof of employment, and the ability to pay $628.

Due to high demand and limited resources: We cannot assist individuals who are not already working with one of our partner organizations We’re not able to help you get connected to a partner agency If you are not currently connected to one of our partners, please understand that we may not be able to return your call or message due to capacity limits Important: You must have a referral from a community partner to be eligible for this program.

Applications cannot be submitted directly by individuals. To begin, you must be referred by your case manager at one of our community partners. They will: Confirm your elegibility.

Collect proof of employment and a payment of $628 . Once your referral and application are complete, you’ll receive an intake phone call. We will: Explain the 3-month / 3,000-mile warranty.

Walk through the process. Once we have a car for you, we’ll provide you with the vehicle’s VIN (vehicle ID#), year, make, model, and mileage so that you can get auto insurance. You’ll be asked for proof of your car insurance and to sign the paperwork for the car.

Be prepared: property tax is due to the state of North Caroline within 60 days of purchase (generally $20-$40) Following up – We’ll contact you one year after buying the car to ask you to complete a survey about your experience with Working Wheels.
