Dental Care - Putting Veterans First All veterans should have access to dental services. Proper dental hygiene is essential to our physical and psychological health. WVRF’s Critical Dental Assistance Program provides immediate critical dental care to qualified wounded and disabled veterans throughout the state of Florida.
There are roughly 1. 5 million veterans living in Florida. 85% of wounded and disabled veterans who are enrolled in the VA do not receive VA dental care.
With proper dental care, the risk of heart attack is reduced by 35%. About the Critical Dental Assistance Program The Critical Dental Assistance Program funds critical and acute dental services for eligible wounded and disabled veterans throughout Florida. Our program focuses on addressing dental pain, tooth decay that affects chewing and nutrition, and missing teeth that may prevent a veteran from securing employment.

Veteran Eligibility Requirements Must be a U.S. Military Veteran with any discharge status other than dishonorable. Florida resident currently living in Florida. 400% below household Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Must not qualify for VA Dental Care. Must be in need of critical dental care (WVRF does not assist with routine, cosmetic, or long-term dental care). *All eligibility requirements will be verified.
How to Apply for Dental Care If you meet the eligibility requirements, your next step is to complete the Qualifying Lead Form. Please review and complete the Dental Qualifier Form on the Florida Veterans Dental Grant Program page. For questions, contact us at dental@wvrf.

Download the Poverty Level Guidelines PDF Veteran Process for Dental Care Application WVRF's Dental Care process is organized into 3 phases: Phase 1: Dental Qualifying Lead Form The veteran submits the Qualifying Lead Form and receives an emailed copy. A WVRF representative will review the submission and follow up within 3–5 business days.
Once the veteran is accepted into the program, the case manager will refer the veteran to a WVRF dental partner for dental care. Phase 2: Acknowledgment and Application Forms If the veteran qualifies, WVRF will send a secure link to complete our acknowledgment and application forms. • The link remains active for five days.
• If not completed within five days, the link expires and the veteran must restart at Phase 1. The veteran is responsible for scheduling all dental appointments for the entire treatment plan moving forward.
Veterans must upload the following documents through our secure application portal: • Most recent three months of bank statements The veteran is responsible for scheduling all dental appointments for the entire treatment plan moving forward. WVRF will review the case file only when all documents are submitted correctly. Additional clarification may be requested.
The veteran will then be notified of acceptance. All documents must be uploaded through the secure application portal. For your privacy and safety, we cannot accept documents via email, mail, or in person.
Applications missing required uploads cannot move forward. The Critical Dental Assistance Program funds critical and acute dental services like addressing tooth pain or decay that impairs a veteran’s ability to chew, or missing teeth that may impair a veteran from securing employment. Our Dental Program does not cover cosmetic, routine, or orthodontic treatments that are not functional or medically necessary.
Implants are not a guaranteed replacement option for missing teeth. At this time, WVRF’s Critical Dental Assistance Program will fund one treatment plan per veteran. Once the veteran completes the treatment plan, the veteran will be morally and financially responsible for maintaining their new smiles through good oral hygiene and routine maintenance, including cleanings.
