CHEYENNE – The Wyoming International Film Festival has officially opened applications for the 2026 Wyoming Filmmaker Grant, an initiative designed to support filmmakers across the state as they bring new stories to the screen.
This year, three Wyoming filmmakers will each receive a $1,000 grant to put toward their next project. Open to Wyoming filmmakers of all ages and experience levels, the grant is intended to help artists at every stage of their filmmaking journey. Funding may be used during pre-production, production or post-production, giving recipients the flexibility to apply the support where it is needed most.
The program welcomes both narrative and documentary projects, reflecting the diverse voices and stories emerging from communities throughout Wyoming. “Financing a film is the hardest part of the process,” said Rudi Womack, executive director of the Wyoming International Film Festival, in a news release. “It’s our aim to remove that barrier for Wyoming filmmakers.
” Womack emphasized that the grant represents a long-term investment in Wyoming’s creative community. “We’re proud to be supporting Wyoming filmmakers,” Womack said. “Hopefully this is just the beginning, and we will continue to grow this opportunity for Wyoming filmmakers year after year.
” The Wyoming Filmmaker Grant is part of the Wyoming International Film Festival’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the state’s film industry and creating new opportunities for local artists. Applications close Sept. 25.
