Youth-Centered Movement Building Grant | Boston Women's Fund Youth-Centered Movement Building and Activism Grant The 2022 Youth-Centered Movement Building and Activism Grant supports local organizations or coalitions led by women, girls and gender expansive individuals providing training, support and meaningful leadership opportunities for youth ages 24 and under to direct transformative social change!

In July, Boston Women's Fund's Youth In Transformative Philanthropy collected nominations from the public to determine which organizations would be considered for this grant award. The nomination period for this grant is now closed. Read on for details about our eligibility criteria and timeline for announcing recipient(s).

Transformative social change is an ecosystem that moves beyond an individual or organization: It is the convergence of philosophies, critical relationships and knowledge, campaigns, movements, cultures, communities, and institutions.

Within the ecosystem of transformative change, BWF’s Youth-Centered Movement Building and Activism Grant prioritizes all of the following: Organizations and coalitions that provide training, support and meaningful leadership opportunities for youth age 24 and under to direct transformative social change Organizations and coalitions that ignite intergenerational partnerships that center youth leaders to direct transformative social change Organizations and coalitions with clear avenues for young people to reimagine the structural and strategic direction of the organization Organizations and coalitions with a strong intersectional analysis, advancing racial and gender justice* A clear vision and mission toward stronger, more resilient, and transformative communities** *Advancing gender justice includes either: Women, girls and/or gender expansive led organization, or Women, girls and/or gender expansive led organizing striving toward gender equity and intersectional racial justice **A clear vision and mission toward stronger, more resilient, and transformative communities includes at least one of the following: Youth-centered organizing to shift dominant culture, build collective power to promote systemic and/or transformative change, and preserve the longevity of these changing systems for next generations and movements.

Leadership development and/or personal transformation with the explicit intention of situating themselves in the larger picture towards change Alternative solutions: community-based revolutionary solutions to oppressive systems in order to ensure everyone has access to power and opportunity BWF prioritizes people over issues.

We are continuously analyzing and reflecting on our reach and partnership with women, girls and gender expansive people in the following Greater Boston area communities: elder, youth, immigrant and refugee, LGBTQIA+, low income, people of color and disability. The Youth-Centered Movement Building and Activism Grant will be awarded through a nomination and review process. The nomination period is now closed .

July 14 - July 25: Accepting nominations July 25: Nominations close July 26 - August 5: Requests For Conversations (RFC) will take place with youth leaders, community members and executive directors from nominated organizations and coalitions. (Nominees will not fill out written applications.) August 10 - September 23: Youth leaders will review submissions and select organizations/coalitions through a consensus decision-making process.

September 23: All nominees will be notified no later than this date *BWF does not fund one-time events such as conferences, research, films, or fine arts that are not in some way connected to an ongoing organizing effort, nor do we fund capital campaigns.
