Youth Initiative Grant is sponsored by Community Foundation of Snohomish County. Supports youth programming in Snohomish County, including mental health, social services, recreation, leadership, mentorship, digital literacy, arts, career development, entrepreneurship, youth-led social change, restorative justice, and intergenerational programs.

Community Foundation of Snohomish County | Inside Philanthropy OVERVIEW : The Community Foundation of Snohomish County’s discretionary grants focus on local efforts for human services and community development. PROFILE: Established in 2001, the Community Foundation of Snohomish County (CFSC) is a community foundation based in Everett, Washington.

The foundation grew from the Friends of Everett Parks, eight founding families and many businesses and individuals who have supported the funder’s work over the years. Originally known as the Greater Everett Community Foundation, CFSC manages over 150 funds today and pursues a mission to “[p]artner with donors and organizations to strengthen Snohomish County communities.

” Discretionary grantmaking targets local efforts for human services and community development. Grantmaking for Community Development, Health, Mental Health, Housing and Nutrition CFSC’s grantmaking focuses on local initiatives for health and human services, prioritizing the area’s vulnerable populations.

The foundation’s Human Services Fund makes grants to community organizations including but not limited to public agencies, K-12 schools, libraries and public arts and recreation programs. Giving prioritizes programs that provide basic needs, health and mental health services to families, elderly residents, youth and disabled people. Additional priorities may change annually to address emerging community needs.

Grants are awarded in the amount of $5,000. Guidelines and due dates are provided on the program page. Past grants have supported the Arlington Community Food Bank, Camp Read-a-Rama, Monroe Gospel Women’s Mission and Washington Kids in Transition.

The Rick Steve’s Europe Fund Capital Grants program, established by the travel author and television host Rick Steve, awards grants for organizations serving seniors in Snohomish County. Giving prioritizes construction and renovation projects, as well as projects that involve volunteers. An application form is linked to the program page, and relevant due dates are updated on the program page.

The Rick Steve’s Europe Fund Capacity Grants program makes grants that help Snohomish County organizations “to invest in infrastructure to improve the efficiency and effectiveness” of their operations. This program prioritizes applications from grassroots, BIPOC and immigrant organizations and awards grants in amounts of up to $5,000.

Examples of funded projects include technology purchases, staff trainings, volunteer management and program evaluations. Application materials and due dates are linked to the program page each year.

Past grants have supported organizations including the Asian Service Center, Homes of Hope Community Land Trust and Support 7, a volunteer organization that helps “victims, survivors and their families move from crisis and trauma to hope and healing. ” The Rick Steve’s Europe Fund Racial Equity program focuses on “advancing systems change as the most effective way to achieve racial equity and opportunity.

” This program prioritizes applications from “BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee-led nonprofits” and has supported trainings, community engagement, legal assistance programs, education, research and policy development. Past grantees include Yoga Behind Bars, My Neighborhood News Network and Washington Family and Community Engagement’s Institute for Parent Leadership and Advocacy. Youth Initiative Grants support efforts for youth development, mental health, mentorship and recreational programs.

Priority is given to organizations serving marginalized youth including LGBTQ, BIPOC, immigrant and rural populations, as well as youth-led groups and proposals written by people under the age of 20. Application materials and current due dates are provided on the program page each year. Past grants have been awarded in amounts of up to $6,000.

Past youth grantees include the Cornerstone Medical Service Free Clinic, Girls on the Run of Snohomish County and Project SeaWolf Coastal Protection, which received funding for its Spring Youth Tree Planting program. CFSC’s discretionary grants are typically awarded in amounts of up to $6,000. Grantmaking is limited to nonprofit organizations located in or serving communities in Snohomish County. The foundation accepts applications for all of its programs, but eligibility, guidelines and due dates vary by program.
