This grant aims to fund innovative educational and enrichment programs that empower youth, ages 3 to 24, to achieve their full potential. Eligible programs should focus on providing tools for effective goal-setting and future planning, exposing youth to diverse career pathways and post-secondary opportunities, and fostering civic engagement through community service.

By investing in these programs, the City seeks to create accessible and impactful opportunities that inspire growth, education, and a sense of purpose, ensuring a brighter future for St. Petersburg’s young people. According to the State of the Region-Tampa Bay, 12.

28% of youth in Pinellas County, which includes St. Petersburg, are identified as disconnected or disengaged, meaning they are neither in school nor working. Various factors contribute to youth disengagement, including household income, economic strain, parental educational attainment levels, foster care status, proximity to or participation in crime, and poor educational performance without adequate support.

This opportunity aims to ensure that all youth living in St. Petersburg have access to enrichment and educational programs that encourage positive self-worth and community well-being. Education & Youth Opportunities is a foundational Pillar for Progress because the future of St.

Petersburg hinges on the development of our younger generation. Addressing academic, cognitive, identity, interpersonal, and social-emotional development, along with mental and physical health, is fundamental for the holistic growth of our city. Equally important is a nurturing atmosphere where young minds are encouraged to pursue their passions and engage in enjoyable activities, cultivating a sense of agency and joy in their lives.

Each grant will be worth $20,000, and there is enough funding for up to 4 non-profits to be awarded the funds.

The nonprofit vendors that will be selected must have services that: Provide tools that assist youth in proper goal setting and planning for their futures (high school and secondary) Expose youth to new careers and post-secondary educational opportunities, Encourage civic educational engagement by involving youth in community service projects.
