Neuhaus announced that the County’s Youth Bureau is seeking applications for a state-funded grant program supporting youth team sports programs for underserved youth under the age of 18. Through New York State’s new Youth Team Sports (YTS) grant program, the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) will provide approximately $223,000 in awards to eligible local community-based organizations and nonprofits.
Individual grants will range from $5,000 to $50,000. “Investing in youth sports is investing in the future of Orange County,” said Neuhaus. “This program will open doors for young people who might not otherwise have access to team sports, giving them a safe, healthy, and inspiring environment to learn, grow, and succeed.
” Eligible proposers include not-for-profit organizations , both secular and faith-based, operating in Orange County, as well as partnerships or consortia consisting of these entities. Funding through this RFP is intended to support team sports programming for youth under 18 in under-resourced communities. Organizations that have never received funding from the Orange County Youth Bureau are encouraged to apply.
Note: Schools and municipalities are not eligible for this funding. Programming and services must be provided within Orange County, with the exception of limited travel approved in advance by the Youth Bureau. Proposals are now available under the “Funding and Forms” tab on the Youth Bureau website at www.
orangecountygov. com/youthbureau and on the Empire State Bid System (“BidNet”) at http://www. empirestatebidsystem.
com . The Orange County Department of General Services will serve as the sole point of contact for proposers throughout the submission period until the Proposal Review Process begins. Proposals submitted directly to the Youth Bureau will not be accepted.
All proposals must be sent to the Orange County Department of General Services. All inquiries regarding the RFP must be submitted in writing to the Orange County Department of General Services via email at [email protected] or by fax at (845) 378-2365. Responses will be compiled and posted in a single addendum accessible to all proposers.
Anyone contacting the Youth Bureau directly will be redirected to General Services to comply with State Finance Law. After General Services audits proposals for required attachments, they will forward them to the Youth Bureau for formal review.
