Zcash Community Grants is sponsored by Zcash Community Grants (ZCG). Funds projects advancing the Zcash protocol, zero-knowledge proofs, formal verification (including Lean 4 applications to ZK systems like Halo2 and Orchard), privacy technologies, and related cryptographic research.

It’s simple! The Zcash Community Grants program (formerly known as ZOMG) funds independent teams entering the Zcash ecosystem, to perform major ongoing development (or other work) for the public good of the Zcash ecosystem. Funding for Zcash Community Grants comes from the Major Grants slice of the Zcash Dev Fund.

Grants are chosen by a five-person committee elected by the Zcash Community. ZIP-1014 , ZIP-1015 & ZIP-1016 were approved by the Zcash community, allocating 8% of mining rewards to provide sustained major grant funding for the ecosystem through the third halving in November 2028. This wishlist is meant to encourage ideas for potential applicants to improve the Zcash ecosystem and is not exhaustive. If your idea to improve Zcash doesn’t fit exactly, feel free to surprise us with your proposal!
