The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCD) is seeking qualified multifamily developers and property owners to apply for a new funding opportunity to support the construction, rehabilitation, or acquisition of multifamily properties across Houston.
This opportunity is part of HCD’s ongoing commitment to expand affordable housing, support long-term recovery, and strengthen communities impacted by the 2024 Derecho and Hurricane Beryl. A New Chapter for Seniors in Magnolia Park Avenue C is now open, bringing 120 affordable homes and on-site supportive services to seniors ages 55+ in one of Houston’s most historic neighborhoods.

Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting Connect South Apartments / Connect Highstar Grand Opening Celebrating community, partnership, and economic mobility, the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department and its partners gathered to celebrate the grand opening of a beautiful and thriving community, Connect Highstar. Connect Highstar is in the Gulfton neighborhood. The City contributed $11.
9 million to the community project, which includes 1-, 2- and 3- bedroom units, a rooftop patio, community spaces, a business center and a fitness center. One amenity of note is the Fabric Forge, a textile lab that employs residents with an ethical wage to help sew and create materials from clothing to fabric backdrops. Residents have called Connect Highstar "life-changing."
