Post-Incarceration Humanities Partnership Grant is sponsored by Humanities New York. This grant opportunity is for New York State-based non-profit organizations that serve individuals going through societal reentry after incarceration, their families, or organizations working on prison reform and/or abolition. Projects must incorporate humanities content and methodologies. Organizations that employ formerly incarcerated individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
Humanities New York Action Grants is a grant program from Humanities New York that funds projects activating, framing, or deepening public understanding of what it means to be human. Open to nonprofits, public agencies, tribal governments, and institutions of higher education in New York State, the program provides up to $5,000 per project. Note that Action Grants are currently paused due to federal funding uncertainties related to the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Humanities New York also offers Reading and Discussion Grants and a Humanities Centers Initiative providing $4,000 to $8,000 to support sustained humanities programming across the state.
Public Humanities Projects opens October 15, 2026 and closes December 9, with planning grants to $75,000 and implementation grants to $750,000. The program has been narrowed to two formats and four mandated themes, and the award notification does not arrive until July 30, 2027.
