African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) is sponsored by NIH Fogarty International Center. African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) - Fogarty International Center @ NIH African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) Not accepting applications at this time African Academy of Sciences (AAS) , in partnership with the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) , is accepting applications for the third cohort of the African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) fellowships.

Past funding call : African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) requirements, selection criteria, FAQs and application from the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) Most recent application deadline: September 30, 2022 Final selection: March 2023 Fellowships start date: September 2023 Established in 2019, APTI is a postdoctoral training fellowship program.

Fellows are trained and supported to become scientific leaders who can advocate for increased research and innovation projects in Africa. This is done through four-year postdoctoral fellowships where APTI Fellows are placed in various laboratories of the NIH Institutes or Centers (e.g., Intramural Research Program ) for two years before returning to their home institutions in Africa for another two years of research.
