$250,000 in catalytic funding to prototype and demonstrate progress Six months of cohort-based technical support from OpenAI engineers and advisors API credits and peer learning with a network of leading practitioners and funders Eligibility for additional scaling capital from partner funders The opportunity to showcase work at a Demo Day. Recent grantees are already demonstrating what this looks like in practice: Ask Aya , developed by the National Domestic Workers Alliance , provides personalized legal guidance and negotiation support to domestic workers, helping a historically excluded workforce access protections and improved working conditions. Moms First launched PaidLeave.
AI to help parents navigate paid leave and public benefits, unlocking thousands of dollars in support many users didn’t know they were eligible for. The Community Economic Defense Project provides renters with real-time legal guidance and automated court filings using their solution, HousingLegalAdvice. AI , to ensure more families stay housed and avoid the long-term costs of displacement.

Casey Foundation and the Ballmer group to invest more than $10 million across more than 50 organizations and projects, making it one of the most active philanthropic funds deploying capital at the intersection of AI and economic mobility.
The fund is estimated to unlock over $1 billion in additional lifetime earnings for the communities served and will surface evidence for how AI can drive equitable economic mobility. Additional funders are invited to help source, review and support these innovative solutions.

Schmidt Sciences' AI in Science and Society initiative funds development of innovative AI tools that accelerate progress in engineering, physical sciences, and complex system design while also examining AI's societal implications. Funded scope includes domain-adapted foundation models for engineering and physical sciences, generative AI for materials discovery and molecular design, AI for complex system simulation and control, autonomous experimental platforms, and interdisciplinary projects bridging AI methods with deep scientific domains. The program also supports work on the societal context of scientific AI including responsible release, equitable access, and human-AI collaboration in scientific practice.
The AI2050 Early Career Fellows program supports bold and ambitious work on difficult challenges as well as promising opportunities in AI. Fellows receive funding plus non-monetary support, such as connections to stakeholders to help them amplify impact. The program selects 15-20 early-career researchers around the world annually through a rigorous process. Research is framed by the central question: 'It's 2050. AI has turned out to be hugely beneficial to society. What happened?' Recent cohorts have included researchers across computer science, philosophy, economics, political science, earth sciences, and humanities working on AI safety, AI policy, fairness, AI for science, sociotechnical AI, and human-AI interaction. The 2025 round awarded $18M across 25 fellows.
Schmidt Sciences' AI Impact on Jobs program supports rigorous interdisciplinary research on how generative AI and AI agents are reshaping employment, occupational tasks, wages, productivity, and labor markets. Funded scope includes empirical measurement of AI adoption across industries and occupations, task-level analyses of AI capabilities and displacement, longitudinal studies of worker outcomes, AI's effects on inequality and labor market polarization, evaluation of reskilling and transition programs, AI's role in entrepreneurship and small business productivity, and policy-relevant work on social safety nets and labor regulation in an AI economy.
