Grand National Curling Club - Ambassador Program This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Starting in the 2022-23 season, U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Tyler George is leading the GNCC Ambassador Program.
The program aims to connect clubs with athletes in a mutually beneficial way: Clubs have the opportunity to bring in well-known athletes and visitors (such as junior instructors or ice techs) to their club, customizing the visit to suit members' needs Clubs pay a fee for the visit plus travel costs to the athlete(s)/visitor(s) Athletes and clubs will coordinate a schedule of events during the visit, such as clinics, lessons, open houses, and more - see sample options in the graphic below Clubs may choose to conduct fundraising activities benefiting the club during the visit Grant and availability information: Tyler George is the current coordinator of the program and will be the athlete visiting clubs.
Tyler has been working with curling clubs for years, and is an amazing ambassador for this sport. He will collaborate with the club to ensure the visit is financially viable and well-suited to what the club and its community desires. Based on club needs, Tyler may suggest additional visitors on an individual basis and at the discretion of the club.
The GNCC has set aside grant funds for the current season to offset fees paid by clubs. The grant is $1,000 total per visit, plus up to $500 reimbursement for athlete travel costs. Each club is eligible for only one grant per season.
Funds are limited within the current GNCC budget; grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
To apply for an Ambassador Program visit and grant, please follow the instructions below: Determine the best time(s) for a club visit and goals for the visit The GNCC Executive Board and Tyler George will receive and review the request Tyler will respond to collect details and share information about calendar and grant availability The host club will coordinate the visit and payment directly with Tyler Following the visit and if the grant is approved, the host club should email an invoice for the grant amount ($1,000) plus the travel reimbursement amount (up to $500), plus a copy of relevant travel cost receipts to the GNCC Treasurer The first recipient of the GNCC $1,000 grant is Rutland Rocks Curling Club, who hosted Tyler in late November 2022.
