Autoimmunity Centers of Excellence, Basic Research Program (U19) is a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) cooperative agreement funding up to $675,000 in direct costs per year to support basic science research on autoimmune diseases. The program supports participation in the NIAID Autoimmunity Centers of Excellence (ACE) network, a collaborative initiative designed to accelerate fundamental and applied research by combining basic and clinical science. The ACE network is founded on the principle that collaboration between basic and clinical scientists advances understanding, prevention, and treatment of autoimmune diseases. Eligible applicants are domestic universities and research institutions; non-U.S. entities are not eligible to apply, and foreign components are not allowed. One application per institution is permitted.
The memorandum of agreement was signed August 4 and 5, disclosed by House appropriators on September 3, and runs through 2036. It names no dollar figure.
