Children's Mental Health Initiative (CMHI)

Mental Health Awareness Training Grants (MHAT) is sponsored by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The purpose of this program is to train individuals, including emergency services personnel (fire department and law enforcement personnel), to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental disorders and how to safely de-escalate crisis situations. It also provides education on community resources for individuals with mental illness and how to establish linkages with mental health agencies.

Community Programs for Outreach and Intervention with Youth and Young Adults at Clinical High Risk for Psychosis (CHR-P) is sponsored by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This program supports the identification of youth and young adults, not more than 25 years old, who are at clinical high risk for psychosis and the provision of evidence-based interventions to prevent the onset of psychosis or lessen the severity of a psychotic disorder.

Garrett Lee Smith State/Tribal Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention is sponsored by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). This program supports states and tribes in implementing youth suicide prevention and early intervention strategies, including efforts to reduce suicide and suicide attempts among young people.
