Grants - Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy Councils, Commissions, and Workgroups Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network Reporting Requirements for Agencies The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy is the designated State Administering Agency for Maryland.

The Governor appointed the office to this role in accordance with federal statute, making it responsible for “comprehensive criminal justice planning and policy development within the State. ” As the State Administering Agency, the office allocates resources statewide and acts to “distribute, monitor, and report on spending” under many State and federal programs.

The office serves as a coordinating office that advises the Governor on various issues relating to criminal and juvenile justice, public safety, mental and behavioral health, and child wellbeing. The office strategizes, promotes, and funds efforts with government entities, private organizations, and the community to advance public policy, enhance public safety, reduce crime and juvenile delinquency, and serve victims.
