Community Research Grants

Small Project Grants (North Carolina Humanities Council) is sponsored by North Carolina Humanities Council. These grants support public humanities projects such as lecture/discussion series, exhibitions, presentations, and workshops. While not exclusively for literacy, projects that use humanities disciplines to explore literature, reading, and storytelling could be eligible. The Council encourages programs which serve educators, veterans, and underserved communities in North Carolina.

Rare Belonging® Grant Program is sponsored by Alexion Charitable Foundation. The Alexion Charitable Foundation's Rare Belonging® grant program supports programs and services that benefit individuals, caregivers, and families impacted by rare diseases, aligning with its mission to address health disparities within and among the rare disease community. Priorities include science-driven solutions, technology and innovation, patient supports, and research & policy focused on diagnostic pathways and systems improvements. The program specifically seeks to advance emotional well-being and educational opportunities, and provide relief for critical needs, especially for those living with or affected by a rare disease.

National Research Center for Promoting Work and Strong Families is sponsored by Administration for Children and Families (ACF). This Center aims to improve the effectiveness of federal and state policies that promote the dignity of work, economic self-sufficiency, and family stability. It will support rigorous, policy-relevant research and build stronger connections between researchers and policymakers in human services programs. Activities include extramural research grants to fund timely, actionable research aligned with ACF priorities, including workforce development.
