Boat Launching Facilities Grant | California State Parks Boat Launching Facilities Grant Alert Something is happening and people are freaking out. BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITY 2027/2028 GRANT APPLICATION California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) is providing public agencies with facilities serving both motorized and non-motorized recreational vessels an opportunity to apply for Boat Launching Facility grants.
Funding can be used to design, engineer, permit, and construct new public recreational boat launching facilities or for improvements to existing facilities. Applications are due no later than 12 p. m.

This workshop provides an overview of the BLF program, OLGA, the grant application process, scoring criteria and recommendations for writing a competitive application.

Grants and loans are awarded on a competitive basis as funding allows. Grants are made to qualifying public agencies to fund facilities such as boat launching ramps, boarding floats, associated parking areas, restrooms, and lighting for motorized and non-motorized boaters. Loans are made to qualifying public and private entities to pay for improvements to marinas.

Once DBW begins reviewing the applications, they will become part of the State's confidential budget-making process, and DBW will be unable to provide updates on the status of applications. However, we will send notifications to applicants to acknowledge receipt of complete applications, and we will contact applicants during the review process if we need additional or updated information about a project.
When the Governor’s budget is released in January 2027, it will usually include a list of projects that are proposed to the Legislature for grant funding in fiscal year 2027-2028. DBW expects the State budget to be finalized in June 2027. DBW typically prepares grant agreements for approved projects several months thereafter.
DBW grant funds are not available to grantees until a fully executed grant agreement is in place. DBW will not fund any project work that occurs before that time. For more information, please contact Joe Dux at Joe.

Division of Boating and Waterways 2026 Boating Infrastructure Grant is sponsored by Department of Parks and Recreation. Provides funding to construct or improve infrastructure used by transient recreational vessels 26 feet or more in length. The Boating Infrastructure Grant program is designed to provide infrastructure and services for recreational boats 26 feet or more in length. Goals of the program include: 1. enhance access to recreational, historic, cultural and scenic resources; 2. strengthen community ties to the water’s edge and economic benefits; 3. promote public/private partnerships and entrepreneurial opportunities; 4. provide continuity of public access to the shore; and 5. promote awareness of transient boating opportunities.
Division of Boating and Waterways Aquatic Center Boating Safety Education Grant FY26 is sponsored by Department of Parks and Recreation. Provide boating safety education to the general public. These grants are available to organizations that offer on-the-water boating safety education courses. Courses offered should be designed to enhance boater knowledge of boating laws, practical handling of vessels on the water, weather and water conditions, rules of the road, and equipment requirements.
Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (SPP) – Round 5 – Proposition 4 is sponsored by Department of Parks and Recreation. The Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program (SPP) that helps support the acquisition and development of new parks and the renovation or expansion of existing parks in critically underserved and climate-vulnerable communities. Deadline: Applications must be submitted online by December 17, 2026. Grant Amount per Application: • Maximum grant request: $8,500,000 • Minimum grant request: $200,000 No Match. Eligible Applicants: Cities, Counties, Districts, Joint Powers Authorities, and Non-profits organizations. Eligible Costs: Acquisition of land, pre-construction (design, permits, etc.) and construction costs. The grant may pay for 100% of total project cost. If the project requires additional funds beyond the grant request, those additional funds must be committed at the time of application. Otherwise, the applicant should scale the project down to a phase that can be completed and open to the public with the grant by itself or grant plus committed funds. Projects in economically disadvantaged communities with a lack of parks are prioritized. Parks designed with community residents' ideas through community-based planning and partnerships with health organizations are encouraged.
