End-of-Life Planning and Care — McElhattan Foundation End-of-Life Planning & Care Committed to enhancing the quality of life at the end of life Our grants in this area focus on three strategic initiatives: Awareness and Documentation, Caregiver/Provider Training and Support, and Technological Innovation.
We aim to support visionary leaders and strong teams making measurable improvements in end-of-life experiences for patients and their families. Awareness & Documentation We support initiatives that educate and empower Western Pennsylvania communities about end-of-life decision-making, including hospice care options. This includes funding broad awareness campaigns and targeted efforts for underserved groups.
We also support projects that facilitate recording and sharing end-of-life preferences. Caregiver/Provider Training & Support We fund resources like respite care, training, and counseling for nonprofessional caregivers and programs that train professional end-of-life care providers. Our focus is on enhancing communication skills and promoting high-quality home-based care in Western Pennsylvania.
We seek technological solutions to improve the quality of end-of-life care, such as using augmented reality for training or innovations to prevent pressure sores. While we welcome applications from across the U.S., we are especially interested in initiatives beginning in Pittsburgh. Our focus is on "Quality of life at the end of life," addressing medical, legal, spiritual, and cultural issues associated with dying.
We aim to go beyond hospice and palliative care, reflecting our mission to preserve and enhance human life and our vision to eliminate end-of-life suffering. At this time, the End of Life Planning & Care program is not accepting unsolicited inquiries. For questions about the strategy, please schedule a call with Jocelyn Horner Kelly .
