FIRST Robotics Scholarship

FIRST Robotics Scholarship is sponsored by NextEra Energy Foundation. This scholarship rewards high school seniors with two or more years of experience in an FTC or FRC program in FPL's service area.

The Florida Power & Light Company Robotics Scholarship Program - Scholarship America The Florida Power & Light Company Robotics Scholarship Program Once again, the NextEra Energy Foundation is offering (2) $20,000 college scholarships and a $5,000 post-high school scholarship to assist a high school senior attending high school located in the districts served by FPL to pursue a degree in engineering, information management or other approved STEM related programs.

NextEra Energy Foundation Applications Currently Closed The program is currently closed. Information for the 2026 program is tentative and subject to change. The Florida Power & Light Company Robotics Scholarship Program The program is administered by Scholarship America ® , the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Applicants to The Florida Power & Light Scholarship Program must: For the Robotics Program: Must have participated in the FIRST, BEST or VEX robotics program for a minimum of two years and must have completed within the last two years.

Be a graduating high school senior located in one of the counties served by FPL. Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2026-2027 academic year. Must pursue a degree in engineering, information management or other approved STEM related program.

Have a minimum weighted grade point average of 3. 0 on a 4. 0 scale (or its equivalent).

For the Drones in School Program: Must have participated in the “Drones in Schools” program for a minimum of two years, must have completed within the last two years Be a high school graduating senior at a school located in one of the counties that is served by Florida Power & Light Company .

Plan to enroll in a post-secondary vocational, technical, trade school program or 2-4 year college/university for the entire 2026-27 academic year. Pursue a degree, license, or certification in aviation, trade, or vocation. If selected as a recipient, the student will receive $20,000 total, $5,000 annually, assuming ongoing eligibility up to four years.

Two awards will be granted per year. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a 3.

0 on a 4. 0 scale, continued enrollment in an engineering, information management or other approved STEM related program, and continuation of the program by the NextEra Energy Foundation. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive $5,000. One award will be granted per year. The Drone award is a one-time only award, and is not renewable.

Past recipients may not apply. Awards are for undergraduate study only. Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of: Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities A statement of educational and career goals and objectives An online recommendation from Robotics/DiS teacher or coach Visual proof (photos of applicant competing with team) Financial need is not considered.

All applicants will be notified in May. Notifications are sent via email. When setting up your account, avoid using a school or work email.

Instead, use an active, personal email address that you will continue to have access to. Please make sure to add studentsupport@scholarshipamerica. org as well as the program email address as safe senders in your email contact list.

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of NextEra Energy Foundation in August. Award checks will be made payable directly to the recipient. The recipient should check with their tax advisor for tax implications.

As part of your application, you must upload the following: A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted.

Transcripts must display: Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken Photos of applicant with robotics or DiS team at competitions NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than three business days after the application deadline date. Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
