FirstLight Sustains - FirstLight The grant program supports and empowers local organizations that promote community building and sustainability. It provides an equitable process whereby qualified, reputable, and capable organizations can apply for and receive funding for activities and projects that meet the goal of improving the quality of life in those communities.
Our mission is to accelerate the decarbonization of the electric grid by supporting the development, operation, and integration of renewable energy and storage to meet the world’s growing clean energy needs and deliver an electric system that is clean, reliable, affordable, and equitable.
To complement our mission, the FirstLight Sustains Program has two areas of focus: Climate Action & Education Climate Action and Education grants will promote awareness of, appreciation for, or access to public conservation and sustainability efforts, and support the protection, restoration, and betterment of natural resources in our communities.
Community Building grants will support efforts to enhance the communities in which we live and work through public safety improvements, public art projects, placemaking, community-led services, and more. Grant Application Process FirstLight Sustains will award individual grants of up to $5,000. Grants that fulfill requirements for, or are eligible for, matching funds are encouraged.
Additional support in the form of materials and sponsorships may be made at the discretion of FirstLight. The 2026 grant cycle opens on February 5, 2026, and close on April 3, 2026. All applications must be emailed or postmarked by April 3, 2026, for consideration in this fiscal year.

Brown Girl Jane x SheaMoisture Grant is a grant from SheaMoisture and Brown Girl Jane that funds Black and woman-owned beauty and wellness businesses in the United States. Part of SheaMoisture's broader commitment to addressing racial inequality through its $1 million annual giving fund, this program specifically supports founders at the intersection of Black and women-owned entrepreneurship in the beauty and wellness sector. Applicants must be based in the U.S. and have operated their business for at least one year. Grants range from $10,000 to $25,000. India Sustainable Growth Hub (ISGH) Research Grants is a grant from the International Growth Centre (IGC) that funds policy-relevant research on sustainable economic growth in India, supported by funding from the Bezos Earth Fund. Two award types are available: full research grants up to GBP 40,000 and small research grants up to GBP 15,000. Projects must demonstrate strong policy relevance, potential for impact, and robust research methods. The lead Principal Investigator must be a researcher based in India and affiliated with an Indian institution, though co-investigators may be based internationally. Eligible institutions include universities, research centres, think tanks, NGOs, and government bodies registered in India. Bihar is a priority partner region.
