We believe that new, diverse voices and unique research approaches are key to achieving scientific advancements in areas of unmet need.
The Research Scholars Program actively works to reduce barriers to entry and success for applicants from population groups who are typically underrepresented in research. To build a more inclusive research landscape, we are committed to supporting both scientists of diverse backgrounds and research projects that address health inequities.
The Research Scholars Program supports meaningful research from emerging investigators that help to address knowledge gaps and drive medical breakthroughs within the following therapeutic areas: Primary Biliary Cholangitis The Research Scholars Program provides two years of financial support to junior faculty researchers.
Award amounts vary globally, although generally each recipient is provided $180,000 USD paid in two annual installments directly to the scholar’s institution. Funding for the second year is contingent upon submission of a progress report and approval by the chair of the program’s scientific review committee.
We also offer a Public Health program for junior researchers across low- to middle-income countries as part of our commitment to advancing global health. *Award amounts can vary globally Scientific Review Committees The selection of each cohort of the Research Scholars Program is overseen by an independent expert scientific review committee to facilitate equal, objective evaluation of all applicants and their submissions.

NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position. The program, operated through NCI's Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities (CRCHD), aims to enhance the pool of qualified diverse cancer researchers. Beginning with the June 12, 2025 due date, the CURE ACE Award is available in both Independent Clinical Trial Required and Independent Clinical Trial Not Allowed versions. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at time of award.
