The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal. Buried in the §200.340 termination provisions of the May 29 Uniform Grants Regulation rewrite is a fundamental restructuring of federal grant termination law. The new rule explicitly models grant termination on the Federal Acquisition Regulation's termination-for-convenience framework — agencies may terminate when termination is in the agency's interest, when an award no longer advances agency priorities, or when the national interest as it exists at the time of termination has shifted. Unlike federal contracts, the rule eliminates the objection, hearing, and appeal rights that have historically attached to termination decisions, and unlike federal contracts, it does not import the FAR's termination settlement framework. Multiyear grant recipients now bear contract-level cancellation risk without contract-level settlement protection.
