If you work towards achieving one or more of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, your project is eligible. Applying is free of charge. Every year iF Design donates EUR 100,000 to support the best projects submitted to the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE.
Your project should already be established and must be related to design (this is now one of the five evaluation criteria) . You can apply with the same project a maximum of two times. Student concepts are not accepted.

Social projects that are supported with the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE benefit from this: Publication on our iF Design Website They will be presented to a global design community, the design-interested public and the media. The projects selected by the jury receive an individual winner certificate.
Evaluation Criteria & Jury Process The jury evaluates all projects based on five updated criteria, considering each project's individual aspects. Providing answers to some or all of these questions in your participation materials will help the jury to understand your project better. Does it reflect or promote high moral-ethical standards?
Sensivity for cultural traditions and power relations Concern for common goals and the collective Awareness of environmental standards Does it have a connection to design?
Usage of design principles in the creation process (i.e. design thinking) Design is one target of the project (enabeling the usage of design/creativity) Elements of the project use design (i.e. campaign branding) Reasonable amount of effort Does it balance effort and use value? Efficient use of resources Feasibility and ease of implementation Does it create a positive experience?
Respect for the individual, justice and fairness, positive experience and fun Strengthening group relations Addressing social conflict through dialogue Based on five evaluation criteria, the jurors evaluate each submitted project individually in an online jury session and later jointly decide on the finalists. Their number is flexible and depends on the total number of applications.
iF Design aims to build a strong network behind its non-profit prize. Since 2024, the jury of the Social Impact Prize has been made up of independent, rotating experts who are closely familiar with the social sector. Brown Girl Jane x SheaMoisture Grant is a grant from SheaMoisture and Brown Girl Jane that funds Black and woman-owned beauty and wellness businesses in the United States. Part of SheaMoisture's broader commitment to addressing racial inequality through its $1 million annual giving fund, this program specifically supports founders at the intersection of Black and women-owned entrepreneurship in the beauty and wellness sector. Applicants must be based in the U.S. and have operated their business for at least one year. Grants range from $10,000 to $25,000. India Sustainable Growth Hub (ISGH) Research Grants is a grant from the International Growth Centre (IGC) that funds policy-relevant research on sustainable economic growth in India, supported by funding from the Bezos Earth Fund. Two award types are available: full research grants up to GBP 40,000 and small research grants up to GBP 15,000. Projects must demonstrate strong policy relevance, potential for impact, and robust research methods. The lead Principal Investigator must be a researcher based in India and affiliated with an Indian institution, though co-investigators may be based internationally. Eligible institutions include universities, research centres, think tanks, NGOs, and government bodies registered in India. Bihar is a priority partner region.
