Indigenous Earth Fund

Indigenous Earth Fund is sponsored by Liberated Capital, DWP. The Indigenous Earth Fund supports Indigenous-led advocacy campaigns focused on climate justice and conservation. These campaigns are rooted in ancestral wisdom, ecological stewardship, and community self-determination.

This year, we will use the following approach to grant $1 million: * Grant Term: Grants will have a term of one year, with projects starting in November 2025 and ending in October 2026. * General Operating Support: DWP operates through a trust-based model, so grants funds are unrestricted in use. * Grant Amount: Grant awards will likely range from $30,000 - $45,000.

* Grant Decision: DWP utilizes a participatory model of grantmaking, reflecting our commitment to reparative philanthropy—redistributing resources in ways that honor community wisdom, foster healing, and challenge traditional hierarchies in grantmaking. All funding decisions are made by an external advisory committee, all of whom are Indigenous experts and leaders.

#### FUND PRIORITIES: SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS-LED CLIMATE JUSTICE AND CONSERVATION ADVOCACY The Fund supports Indigenous-led advocacy campaigns that are rooted in ancestral wisdom, ecological stewardship, and community self-determination. These focus areas—ranging from land and water protection to food sovereignty and climate justice—reflect an integrated approach to healing ecosystems and restoring cultural practices that sustain life.

DWP believes that these initiatives should uplift Indigenous power-building efforts that honor relational economies and safeguard future generations. These priorities are not just environmental strategies; they are acts of cultural survival, resistance, and collective regeneration.

While we recognize that many Native-led organizations engage in both direct service delivery and programmatic efforts alongside advocacy, our funding will prioritize applicants whose work demonstrates a commitment to advocacy—whether through campaign organizing, policy change, movement-building, or efforts that shift dominant narratives.

Applicants are encouraged to outline how their programmatic activities bolster and connect with broader climate justice and conservation advocacy goals at the local/tribal, state or national levels. The Fund will prioritize programs that advance advocacy in the following domains: 1. Ecosystem and Cultural Conservation 1.

Protection of ecosystems and bio-cultural heritage 2. Restoration of water sources and other critical natural resources 3. Management of land, forest, freshwater, and marine environments through Indigenous frameworks 2.

Food Sovereignty and Subsistence Rights 1. Revitalization of traditional practices: harvesting, hunting, foraging, fishing 2. Defense of subsistence resources, such as salmon 3.

Reinforcement of Indigenous food systems and climate resilience strategies 3. Just Transition and Economic Development 1.

Advocacy and planning to prepare Tribes to transition to renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, hydro) We also welcome proposals that build the strategic capacities of Native-led movements focused on climate, including: * Narrative and communications strategies * Policy advocacy and lobbying * Legal support and rights defense * Ensuring physical and digital safety and security for organizers We value and understand the importance of sovereign Tribal governments in this work and encourage projects led by, or partnered with, Tribal nations.

We also welcome joint proposals between Tribes and/or Native-led organizations working toward common goals. * All funding must be used for charitable purposes in alignment with the goals of the fund.

* Funding is unrestricted, general operating support; therefore, funds may be used for advocacy efforts, programming, and other organizational priorities such as staffing, travel, supplies, etc. * Grant funds may not be used for subsidies or regranting to other organizations. * Qualifying organizations are only eligible for one grant per organization from IEF.

* Organizations may have no more than two (2) active grants from DWP at any given time. **EVALUATION AND LEARNING** Grantees will be expected to provide regular updates on their progress as requested. Current grantees should provide impact information on their most recent (2024-2025) grant-supported efforts as part of this application process.

Selected grantee partners may be invited to participate in convenings to foster collaboration, shared learning, and community building. We aim to facilitate a learning community amongst the grantee cohort. Proposals are due by August 19, 2025, at 5 pm PST.
