Today, known as the Kūpuna Aging in Place (KAP), the multi-year grant program supports organizations that provide a range of supportive services including community-based support, adult day care & adult day health, and caregiver support for low- to moderate-income kūpuna (seniors) age 65 and older and their caregivers, all with the goal that kūpuna in Hawaiʻi can age in place.
Open Funding Opportunity: 2026-2029 Kūpuna Aging in Place Program HCF is currently accepting applications for the 2026-2029 Kūpuna Aging in Place grant program. Applications will be accepted online through HCF's Grants Portal until Friday, March 20, 4:00 p. m.
HST. In July 2023, HCF awarded over $3. 7 million in grant funding to 16 nonprofits throughout the state to support kūpuna and their caregivers for a 3-year period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026.
The grantees are: Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi Hale Makua Health Services Hawaii Island Adult Care, Inc. Hawaii Meals On Wheels, Inc. Hawaii VA Foundation – Our Kūpuna Kōkua Kalihi Valley Comprehensive Family Services Ma Ka Hana Ka ʻIke Building Program Maui Day Care Center For Senior Citizens And Disabled Mō‘ili‘ili Hongwanji Mission – Project Dana Nā Hoaloha-Maui Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Windward Seniors' Day Care Center Grantees provide a range of community-based support services including case management, falls prevention education, home delivered meals, transportation, socialization, respite, adult day care and day health services, and personal care.
Grantees also provide caregiver support including trainings, counseling, support groups, and other support services that positively impact the well-being of caregivers and improve the ability of caregivers to support kūpuna. KAP is supported by Friends of Hawaiʻi Charities, Inc.; May Templeton Hopper Fund, Minnie K. Fund, Alice M.
G. Soper Fund, Theodore A. Vierra Fund, and Lisa Livingston Fund of the Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.

Hawai‘i Community Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that provide direct services to seniors throughout the state. Hawai‘i Community Foundation does not provide direct services for seniors or caregivers. Each county has an Elderly Affairs division or Office on Aging that can help assess seniors’ needs and connect seniors and caregivers with resources.

Organizational Capacity Building - Executive Transition & Strategic Restructuring is sponsored by Hawaii Community Foundation. This multi-year funding opportunity supports programs advancing child abuse and neglect prevention efforts in Hawaiʻi. Funding priorities include prenatal to five programming to strengthen protective factors and sexual abuse prevention for elementary school-aged children. Programs that incorporate mental health, behavioral health, or substance abuse services to families are also considered.
