National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG)

National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) is sponsored by Indiana National Guard. Covers tuition and fees for eligible members of the Indiana National Guard attending Indiana colleges or universities.

Indiana National Guard: National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) Education Resource Center National Guard Supplemental Grant Awards up to 100% tuition and fees to eligible members of the Indiana National Guard. The Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) covers up to 100 percent of state tuition assistance costs for eligible members of the Indiana Air and Army National Guard.

As of July 2023, NGSG also provides an annual award of up to $5,000 toward tuition and regularly assessed fees at an Indiana private, non-profit college or university. See public/private university listing below.

Students can attend either full-time or part-time Open to all INNG soldiers and airmen wishing to further their education Covers tuition and regularly assessed fees and textbooks For soldiers who are recipients of the 21st Century Scholarship, NGSG can be applied for room and board Applicable only for distance learning, online, correspondence and classroom courses Can be used only during fall and spring semesters Is subject to the availability of funds Grant amounts are based on credit hours per semester up to 15 credit hours Apply Now - Follow these step-by-step instructions The step-by-step instructions below combine the Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and NGSG application processes.

If you are eligible for FTA, you must apply for it in order to receive the National Guard Supplemental Grant. Part 1: Initial Eligibility Step 1: Confirm INNG Membership Ensure you are an active, participating member of the Indiana National Guard in good standing. Step 2: Confirm Enrollment Ensure you are enrolled or accepted at an eligible Indiana-based college/university.

Eligible Colleges and Universities Step 3: Complete the FAFSA Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required for the National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG).

Part 2: Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) Application Step 1: Attend the ArmyIgnitED 101 Briefing Watch the ArmyIgnitED 101 video: Go to ArmyIgnitED Messaging Step 3: Complete Virtual Benefits Training Find and complete this training under the "Education Programs" tab in ArmyIgnitED.

Access Virtual Benefits Training Step 4: Upload your Degree Plan and Create an Education Goal Upload your Degree Plan/Audit/Map , and create an Education Goal.

Ensure your degree plan from your academic institution includes: Academic institution name Completed/transferred courses Tutorial - Create an Educational Goal (PDF) Step 5: Submit Tuition Assistance Request (TAR) Submit your TAR for one class at a time within the submission window. Note: Submit your request between 7 and 60 days before the course start date.

Step 6: Ensure Supervisor Approval for FTA Ensure that: Supervisor information is correct Your supervisor has CAC access Your supervisor is aware of your pending tuition assistance request Part 3: National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) Application Step 1: Create a ScholarTrack Account ScholarTrack is Indiana's one-stop shop for state financial aid, operated by the Indiana Commission on Higher Education (CHE).

To access ScholarTrack, you must first create an account. Create ScholarTrack Account Step 2: Submit NGSG Application All NGSG applications will be filled through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education’s ScholarTrack website: Apply Now at ScholarTrack Step 3: Check for Award Letter Check your ScholarTrack account regularly. Once the grant is approved, your award letter will be available for download.

Ensure your school receives the award letter. Certificate programs at Ivy Tech, Vincennes, or other CHE‑approved providers may qualify Costs the NGSG will cover: Tuition and mandatory fees: Consumable fees and certification exams must be charged through the university and should not exceed the total cost of tuition for the term.

Students must submit the NGSG application through ScholarTrack Students must be eligible to receive state financial aid – possessing state financial aid eligibility units. Students must file the FAFSA and have no present edits restricting them from receiving the NGSG. Students can enroll part-time or full-time.

Remain in good standing with the Indiana National Guard. Maintain Satisfactory Academic Performance with the institution where NGSG is being utilized. As many INNG Service Members attend civilian training in part-time status, applicants will have one year per 15 Credit Hours to complete their certificate program, e.g. a 30 credit hour program must be completed in two years.

Post-Application Responsibilities Step 1: Maintain Good Standing You must remain a member in good standing with the Indiana National Guard. Step 2: Maintain Grade-Point Average (GPA) You must maintain a satisfactory grade-point average (GPA) as required by Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and your school. A satisfactory GPA is typically 2.

0 for undergraduate students and 3. 0 for graduate students. Step 3: Annual Renewal Remember that you must reapply for FAFSA, FTA and NGSG each academic year.

 Basic Requirements - All Degree Levels  Master's Degree Students Must have an ArmyIgnited account and have applied for funding for the semester. Must have a ScholarTrack account . Must have a FAFSA (current term) with school of enrollment listed, submitted, and on file with the state eligible school of choice.

Must be enrolled in state eligible school of choice. Air Guard students must have completed steps 2 through 4. Must have completed the basic requirement for all degree levels.

NGSG awards will be based upon undergraduate-level funding caps, FAFSA reported expected family contribution (EFC), enrollment status (full/part-time student) and the availability of funds. Students whose NGSG application has been approved but do not see an award offer, go to the previous academic year on their dashboard in ScholarTrack or call 1-888-528-4719 to create a Help Desk Ticket.

Be a high school graduate (including home-schooling) or have earned a GED. Must be an Indiana Guardsman before applying for NGSG. Applicable only to a student’s first degree of that level up to a master's degree Does not cover room and board NGSG is a once a year application that resets every June.

Applications must be submitted no later than 8 days before the beginning of classes. Late applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and on the availability of funds.
