New York State Opioid Settlements | Office of Addiction Services and Supports New York State Opioid Settlements New York State has been awarded billions of dollars from lawsuits with opioid makers and distributors that sought to hold companies accountable for their roles in creating the opioid epidemic.
2025 Opioid Settlement Report Fastest Distribution of Settlement Funds in the Nation OASAS oversees approximately 40% of the state’s opioid settlement funding and supports strategic investments in initiatives that help address the ongoing effects of the epidemic. The rest of the funding goes directly to local counties and cities.
NYS secured funding from various settlements with companies involved in the manufacturing, distributing, and selling of opioids. Funding is not provided to states all at once. Annual payments to NYS began in 2021 and will continue for up to 18 years.
In the first 5 years of the annual payments, OASAS committed all of its $454M in funding to programs and initiatives across the state.
