PRIME TIME Family Reading Programs

PRIME TIME Family Reading Programs is sponsored by National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) / Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (state affiliate). PRIME TIME offers intergenerational reading and discussion-based literacy programs for underserved children (ages 6-10) and their families. The program promotes academic achievement, positive attitudes toward learning, family bonding, and library use.

Created by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in 1991, Prime Time offers programs designed to engage, educate, and support children and their families.

We seek to help children learn not what to think, but how to think using children’s books as a starting point for discussions and activities that explore important ideas about life, family and building community. Prime Time partners with Louisiana-based organizations dedicated to serving our target audience with humanities-based learning and family bonding through literature.

Applicants for our Prime Time Family and Prime Time Preschool grants are accepted for fall and spring sessions. We carefully review each application and will notify you by email of funding or denial within four weeks of the application deadline. Priority is given to agencies targeting educational and economically vulnerable populations. Applicants must have a valid EIN# Applicants must provide valid contact information for teams. Prime Time managers will sometimes contact teams over holidays and summer breaks.
