Religion & Theology Program Grants is sponsored by Henry Luce Foundation. The Henry Luce Foundation's Religion & Theology Program supports knowledge makers who reconsider accepted histories, weave new narratives, and imagine alternative futures. The program awards grants primarily to organizations and institutions for dedicated projects, and can also provide more flexible funding.

This is highly relevant for theological education and seminary-based research and programmatic development.

DEEPENING KNOWLEDGE, CULTIVATING CURIOSITY, PURSUING WISDOM We seek to deepen public knowledge of religion and to draw on the wisdom of faith traditions to advance shared understanding.

Partnering with scholars of religion, faith leaders, journalists, artists, museum curators, and communities of faith, our work strengthens understanding of the great diversity of American religion, promotes more curious and civil public conversations, and stimulates faith-rooted efforts to envision and build a more just, compassionate, and democratic world.

Faith and Philanthropy Initiative Pooled Fund The product of collaboration among a diverse group of philanthropic leaders and foundation program officers, the Faith and Philanthropy Pooled Fund is an exploratory joint grantmaking initiative dedicated to deepening appreciation for the role of faith leaders, faith communities, and spiritual imagination in addressing a range of pressing contemporary challenges related to justice, democracy, belonging, and the health of the planet.

Learn More (this link opens in new window) Proteus Fund Solidarity Collaborative Drawing on the effective cross-movement strategies of Proteus Fund’s other donor collaboratives, the Solidarity Collaborative will work to support authentic, action-oriented relationships centered on solidarity among field organizations, promote promising work happening between organizations through grantmaking and programmatic support, and mobilize philanthropy to help resource and scale impactful solidarity in service of racial justice and an inclusive, representative democracy.

Across our grantmaking, we support collaborative, community-engaged research and community-led solutions to the complex challenges that have created deep divisions and inequities in our society. These convictions are present in the work of all our programs. Through support for innovating museum projects, we strengthen the capacity of museums to support critical dialogues about creativity, difference, and common ground.
