Transportation Programs | United Way of York County United Way of York County is on a mission to assist working households on their journey toward financial stability. With that mission in mind, we’re supporting transportation programs that provide York County households with safe, reliable, and useful transportation.
Ride United Micro Grants will provide targeted support to sustain and expand existing transportation programs that directly assist ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households. These micro grants focus on immediate, practical solutions to meet current transportation needs.
We will fund: Quick-action, direct transportation solutions for ALICE households, delivered through nonprofit organizations serving York County residents. Eligible transportation support may include, but is not limited to, rideshare vouchers, bus passes, bicycle purchases, gas cards, and transportation-related repairs.
All funded solutions must directly support access to reliable transportation needed to get to work or participate in workforce training. Rideshare vouchers will be administered by United Way of York County through the Ride United Lyft partnership. Read about how this grant impacted our community in 2025 here .
Transportation Referral Partnership Grant supports the development and launch of a new coordinated, countywide mobility strategy to reduce transportation barriers that limit access to employment, healthcare, education, social services, and other essential destinations. This initiative is not a stand-alone program. It is a systems-level effort that requires deep, sustained collaboration across multiple organizations and sectors.
The selected lead agency will serve as a backbone organization, responsible for convening partners, aligning services, and building a coordinated approach to mobility access in York County.
Unlike traditional transportation programs that focus on new means of transportation, this initiative aims to support individual mobility navigation, ensuring that residents can understand and access the full range of transportation and supportive services already available throughout the county.
Transportation Referral Partnership RFP York County Transportation Study To understand the transportation challenges facing York County residents, United Way of York County, in partnership with Fourth Economy Consulting, initiated a countywide Transportation Study. This study examines the experiences of people who travel within the county, and derives recommendations to improve transportation access and quality for all.
