Grants | Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission The Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission operates two grant programs and serves as a clearinghouse for information on other preservation grants and financial assistance. Certified Local Government (CLG) Grants are available for communities with Historic District Zoning.
Eligible projects include identification and evaluation of significant historic and archaeological properties, the nomination of eligible properties to the National Register of Historic Places, historic preservation plans and certain education-related activities. Grant applications are typically made available in the fall, and decisions are announced in the spring.
The State Preservation Grants program provides grants for capital preservation projects at museums, cultural art centers, and public historic sites located in historic structures. This program is funded by Rhode Island voter-approved bond issues. The most recent grant round took place in 2021, and no additional grant rounds are planned at this time.

Jerome Early-Career Project Grants is a grant from Forecast Public Art, funded by the Jerome Foundation, that funds the creation of new public art projects by early-career artists based in Minnesota. Two grants of $8,000 each are awarded annually to support temporary or permanent public artworks anywhere in Minnesota. The Local Cultural Council Program is a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council distributing $1,000 to $10,000 through a statewide network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) representing every city and town in the Commonwealth. Each LCC awards funds based on local community cultural needs as assessed by council members. Eligible applicants include artists, nonprofits, schools, and organizations pursuing arts, humanities, and science projects. Applications are submitted directly to local councils and are typically due by October 16. Grants from most LCCs are reimbursement-based. Massachusetts Cultural Council funds the LCCs centrally, which then regrant to community projects.
