STEP2 Receives $110,250 Grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation to Support Mothers in Recovery - Nevada Business Magazine You are here: Home / Press Release Wire / STEP2 Receives $110,250 Grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation to Support Mothers in Recovery STEP2 Receives $110,250 Grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation to Support Mothers in Recovery RENO – [November 12, 2025] – STEP2 is proud to announce it has received a $110,250 grant from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation, a philanthropic arm of the Elevance Health Foundation, to support its BLOOM: Two Hearts, One Journey program.
The three-year grant will help STEP2 continue its mission to break the cycle of addiction and violence by empowering women and children to rebuild their lives. BLOOM focuses on maternal health and supports pregnant and parenting women who are recovering from substance use disorders. With this funding, STEP2 will expand access to housing, counseling, parenting classes, and recovery support that help families heal and thrive.
“This generous support from the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation allows us to reach more mothers who are working to rebuild their lives,” said Mari Hutchinson, Chief Executive Officer of STEP2. “Through the BLOOM program, we help women and children find stability, strength, and hope for the future. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and the positive impact it will have on our community.
” Over the next three years, the BLOOM program aims to serve approximately 300 women and address local disparities by improving maternal health outcomes, supporting long-term recovery, and promoting lasting family stability.

STEP2 is a Reno-based nonprofit treatment center for women battling substance use disorder.
Since 1986, STEP2 has provided a safe, supportive space and effective program to help women, mothers, and expectant mothers get and stay clean and sober. STEP2’s mission is to break the cycle of addiction and violence in families–by empowering women to build and maintain a clean and sober life.
