Strengthening the Safety Net Grants Improving access to affordable healthcare Blue Cross Blue Shield and Blue Cross Complete of Michigan are pleased to announce the 2025 Strengthening the Safety Net grant program.
Since 2005, Blue Cross has invested more than $17 million in Strengthening the Safety Net grants. The grants support free and low-cost clinics that provide care to uninsured and underinsured Michigan residents. Building a healthier Michigan Blue Cross is grateful for our safety net partners who care for our communities.
Access to healthcare improves health outcomes and strengthens communities by: Improving the health of individuals Creating stronger families Supporting a healthier workforce Lowering healthcare costs Grants are available to Michigan clinics providing free medical, dental or behavioral healthcare to uninsured and underinsured residents. Strengthening the Safety Net In Michigan, a network of clinics (often run by a small army of volunteer doctors, dentists and professional staff) provide free or low-cost care as a safety net. These clinics play a vital role, helping our communities. They rely on fundraising to pay their bills, keep the lights on, doors open and shelves stocked with medical supplies.

NCI Continuing Umbrella of Research Experiences (CURE) Academic Career Excellence (ACE) Award (K32) is a grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) that funds early postdoctoral fellows from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups, to pursue research training in cancer-related fields. The K32 award supports fellows within 12 months prior to transitioning into, or within the first two years of, a postdoctoral position.
